No Country for Old Men is a film written and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, starring Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin and Javier Bardem. Adapted from the Cormac McCarthy novel of the same name, No Country for Old Men tells the story of a drug deal gone wrong and the ensuing cat-and-mouse drama, as three men crisscross each other’s paths in the desert landscape of 1980 West Texas.

The film was honored with four Academy Awards, Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay.
Upon first viewing of this film, I was left empty in denial. I could not believe for a second that Brolin’s character was dead with out seeing it. I just spent the last 2 hours following him and routing for him, and to have the rug yanked out from under me left me pissed off. Even when his wife in the film, states that she just buried her mother, I was convinced that was the clue that Brolin’s Llewelyn Moss was not dead at all.
And then, suddenly the film ends. So many emotions about this one. I was wondering at what point would we see any resolution on any character. I wondered why Tommy Lee Jones’ Sheriff Bell even showed up in this film. Where was my wild west shootout ?
It was only after a few days of digesting this masterpiece that I finally accepted it. The film is superb. Totally engaging and a rare accomplishment of American cinema.
This scene alone is worth the price of admission.
